And just like that it was January again. Time to hit the mountain. Ready for an overload of snow and fresh air.
Like every year we travelled by train from Zurich to Bettmeralp. One of the most breathtaking and gorgeous places on earth.
But this year we slightly changed the plan and stayed at Hotel Waldhaus instead of the usual “Chalet”.
We were invited to sleep in one of the just finished new rooms “Holz100”. That smell! Wood was in the air and it was fantastic! Everything made with such finesse. Also that view! Overlooking snowy firs, absolutely calming, nothing but nature. It felt like staying at a Canadian Lodge (actually never been, but that’s what I imagine it to feel like) ;) It felt absolutely amazing.
The family run hotel is very intended to make you feel welcomed. They put love in the details. The breakfast buffet is one of the best we have ever had in a hotel. A lot of home made things, different kind of breads, croissants, jams, many softs of cheese, meat cuts and so on. (David would expand his stomach for this buffet). Give it a try!
For those (like me), who don’t get to hit the slopes: They offer yoga classes two times a week. And you get to use the nearby Sportscenter (indoor swimming pool, sauna and gym) for free. There’s also a big jumping castle and toys free to use, loads of fun on snowy days.
We got to enjoy the cuisine of Hotel Waldhaus, which we loved (especially when they served Fondue and Raclette on one night and we got to enjoy both) ;)
Next time I would love to try this one though: Restaurant Gläcktricka - the menu sounded mouthwatering!
