Family Vacation Zillertal, Austria

Anyone of you ever done something which you at first thought you'll never do it? (because you just think you are way to cool for it and have an absolute wrong picture of a thing in your mind)
Just happened> A weekend trip to the Austrian mountains, staying at a four star family hotel (all meals covered) and our main activities were hiking and hitting the spa.

Thank you Zillertal
for treating us like kings and queens!
also thank you CALIDA for my weekend trip outfit! (find pictures bellow)

Friendliness in Austria is something you need to experience. It felt so natural, as it is their way of life. The hotel we stayed at was a family hotel called Seetal, the small town Kaltenbach is the first stop in the beautiful Zillertal.
Zillertal is a wide valley in Tyrol, it's right within the mountains, the perfect place for a summer or winter holiday! It only took us 4 hours by car to get there (from Zurich). We "timed" Lee to be napping in the car and our plan worked out.

As we arrived on Thursday late afternoon, we started our short trip with a swim in the swimming pool, where you get to enjoy a breathtaking view.

To be honest I was very happy about the program which Zillertal Tourismus put together for us. The area offers like a million attractions (for the whole family). - I would have been overwhelmed making choices. Below I will list you the things we did and you can find a very helpful list on Zillertal

Day1, Friday
Workout at the hotels gym (while the husband and baby were still asleep)
Swimming in the pool
Breakfast at the hotel (a rich buffet)
We spontaneously decided on dropping off Lee at the hotels own child program and went on a hike, just the two of us! The kids program was amazing, and he had a lot of fun playing outside with other kids.
Meanwhile my husband and I took the car to the gondola lift RosenalmbahnOnes reaching the middle station we did a hike up to the end station. Up there you will find the most amazing playground (It's called Fichtenschloss) for your kids (and yourselves). Seriously we have never seen such an incredible public playground!
We then got invited for some Austrian specialities (Apfelstrudel it was) at the Kreithüttewhere you get to enjoy a breathtaking view!

The program point in the afternoon was probably one of my favourites! We got to visit Das PosthotelIt's a family run nature & designer hotel. Oh my - let me tell you: if just being on a trip with my husband, I would definitely choose this place to stay at! We loved hanging out in their backyard and enjoying delicious coffee. We even bought a bag of beans for our machine at home!

Day 2, Saturday
After another rich breakfast we took the car and drove to the the charming town Mayrhofen, from there you can take the gondola up to the mountain for several activities. We enjoyed a breathtaking panorama hike (which was around 90 minutes). My husband carried Lee in a hiking carrier, which we were free to use from the hotel. Ones reaching our target: Granatalm we enjoyed another Austrian delight: Kaiserschmarrn and played at another immense playground called Pepis Kinderland

Day 3, Sunday
Swimming, breakfast and arrivederci amazing Zillertal!
